You will have been prescribed medication – probably several different types of medication – after your heart attack. These drugs are intended to help you reduce the risk of having another heart attack. But they only work properly if they are taken at the right dose and the right time. So it's very important to use your medication as directed by your physician. Here are some of the types of medication you may have been prescribed:

Ways to help you to remember to take your prescribed medication:
- Always take your medication at the same time(s) each day.
- Use an alarm to remind you when it is time to take your medication. A timer that doubles as a keyring can be handy if you need to take your medication at a time of day when you expect to be on the move.
- Keep a record of the medication you have taken each day and remember to check it before you go to bed.
Keep taking your prescribed medication
You will probably be prescribed more than one drug after your heart attack and it is vitally important that you continue to take all your medication as prescribed by your physician.
